My Father Once Told Me

Ben Konkol collaborated with author Blas Telleria to illustrate his 52-page children’s book, My Father Once Told Me, written in honor of his sons’ Native American heritage. The story begins with a question from one of the author’s sons around a campfire – “Hey Dad, how was the world made?” – and goes on to detail a creation story inspired by Native American myths and heritage. See below for a selection of Ben’s illustrations for the book, several of which have won awards from the Society of Illustrators, Communication Arts, 3×3, and American Illustration.
