Beatriz Ortiz was commissioned to illustrate a portrait of Hofstra University’s first Rhodes Scholar, Resa B. Nelson ’26, for Hofstra Magazine’s Spring issue. Nelson’s research at Hofstra focused on solving an ecological issue in her homeland of Antigua, converting seaweed overgrowths into biofuels.
