Victo Ngai 倪传婧 is a Los Angeles–based illustrator from Hong Kong, celebrated for her distinctive style of magical realism. Her international recognition includes Forbes 30 Under 30 (Art & Style), five Gold Medals from the Society of Illustrators, the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis and Zilveren Penseel for Best Picture Book, and she is the first Chinese artist to receive the Society of Illustrators’ prestigious Hamilton King Award. She has also been named an ADC Young Gun and nominated for the Hugo Award.
Her richly symbolic, layered illustrations combine intricate linework and vibrant color with cultural heritage and contemporary sensibility. Victo’s clients include Gucci, Apple, Johnnie Walker, Arc’teryx, American Express, TUMI, Lufthansa, Carlsberg, and DreamWorks. She has served on juries for major competitions, delivered lectures and workshops in more than 50 cities worldwide, and her work has been profiled in The Wall Street Journal, The Independent, Elle, Cosmopolitan, Marie Clarie, Communication Arts and many more.
