Gaby D’Alessandro illustrated Saguaro, an upcoming picture book written by Laekan Zea Kemp and publishing from Neal Porter/Holiday House in October. Honoring Mexican-American heritage and family legacy, the story draws a connection between the slow and steady growth of the towering saguaro cacti and the growth of the child, who will one day follow his Abuelo’s footsteps and beyond.
